(ECDL) European Computer Driving Licence
This is a certification of your competence in computer skills. It is an international qualification recognised in European countries.

We are a registered ECDL Test Centre in partnership with (OLP) Open Learning Parnership

The 7 modules covered are:

Module 1: Basic Concepts of Information Technology
It provides an understanding of the components of a PC and context for use of computer-based software applications in society. Topics covered include the CPU, hardware, software, networks, health and safety, storage devices.

Module 2: Using the Computer and Managing Files
Focuses on the the basic functions of a PC and its operating system. Topics include working with Microsoft Windows, managing files and folders/directories and using a simple text editing application.

Module 3: Word Processing
Module 3 focuses on using Word 2003 and topics covered include formatting documents, creating templates, headers and footers, inserting tables and charts, printing, importing objects and mail merge.

Module 4: Spreadsheets
Using Microsoft Excel 2003 and includes creating and amending worksheets, printing, sorting, using formulae and other functions, drawing charts and graphs, importing files.

Module 5: Databases
This module focuses on using Microsoft Access 2003 to plan and design a simple database and to perform simple queries as well as produce reports. Topics covered include creating databases using different methods, creating and amending tables, reports, queries, forms, setting relationships and data modelling.

Module 6: Presentations
Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 is a presentation support tool and you will be used to produce presentations in a variety of ways. Topics covered include creating presentations using the wizard and in normal view, amending presentations, applying animation, using graphics, changing layouts, formatting presentations, viewing the slideshow, saving the presentation as a web page.

Module 7: Information and Communication
This module focuses on the use of Microsoft Internet Explorer and topics covered include using the browser to conduct searches effectively, accessing web pages, adding web pages to favourites and organising them into folders, changing Internet options, setting the home page for browser. The communication component focusing on sending and receiving emails, organising emails, forwarding emails, copying emails and adding contacts to the address book.
